I Tried Them All – The Best Low Heel Booties for All Budgets

, , ,

One of my capsule purchases for fall was a pair of flat or low heel booties, and I’ll tell ya what….I hunted and hunted and tried them ALL.  😳  There are so many options out there for all types of budgets and styles, and I’ve listed my impressions below along with which booties made the cut!

1 – Solid Flat Bootie
I love the look of a Chelsea boot, and this spin on the classic was comfortable and affordable, too!  The color is true to what’s pictured, and it is probably better suited for a narrow foot.  I’m somewhere between an 8 and and an 8.5, and because this shoe didn’t come in half sizes, it didn’t quite work for me.  If you are a solid round number, it’s a pretty cute option!

2 – Side Cut-out Boot
This bootie is perfect for transitioning between spring and fall, and I just loved those little side cutouts.  They fit true to size (I got the 8’s and they work), and this brindle color is gorgeous in person.  It’s a smokey pale grey/greige, and the boots are very comfortable!  I kept these bad boys.

3 – Prasata Bootie
Le sigh.  I loved these booties during the Nordstrom sale…and so did everyone else! πŸ˜‚  By the time they finally arrived after being on backorder, I’d already committed to another pair, but man are these purdy.  Comfortable, true to size, low heel, and the perforated leather is just so original.  They keep selling out, so if you can snag a pair, go for it!  The ones I ordered were the New Foxy color.

4 – Ankle Strap Boot
Talk about a budget-friendly and adorable option!  These vegan suede ankle boots are very comfortable with the lower heel, and they are probably best suited for a medium to wide foot.  I wanted to keep these so badly!  My narrow foot was just a little floppy inside though.  So cute for the price and pretty true to size!

5 – Laser Cut Out Bootie
Another budget-friendly pick, and the laser cut out detail is everywhere it seems for fall.  I love that funky textured look, and the split sides were so comfortable on my ankles.  This material is soft, and I’d grab maybe a half size up as they ran a bit snug on me.  There are pricier versions of this bootie everywhere, but I think this inexpensive option is just as good!

(Top pair arrived in time for a pic but had to go back…you snooze, you loose, little bootie. πŸ˜‰)

6 – Side Zip Bootie
Easy on the eyes and the wallet, these side zip booties were some of my faves, especially with that cute stitching around the base.  They ran a little large on me, and, if I had kept them for good, I would have returned for a half size smaller.  They certainly look way more expensive than they are!

7 – Split Side Boot
Another laser cut look that is super inexpensive, and you’ll want to order a half size up if you plan to wear little no-show socks with these.  I love that they go up a little higher on the shaft and look super cute with cuffed skinny jeans!

8 – Leather Flats
So…if you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know my love of these “elf” shoes that I’ve had for a few years now.  πŸ˜‰  Not sure if they count as booties or flats, but, because they’ve remained in my capsules for years now and I STILL love them so much, I thought I should throw them in.  They are an investment I am so glad I saved up for and eventually made, and they are so unique and comfy!  Double check the European sizing before ordering, but they are true to size once you do!  The brown color is what I have, and they have only gotten better with age!

And finally, the winner of the The Flat Bootie (πŸ˜‚ ) Challenge…

The Dolce Vita Tay suede bootie!
While I did end up keeping those side cut out booties up top too, these beauts were the real stars of the bootie-off.  πŸ˜‰  While I am a girl on a budget for most purchases, the adage is true that you get what you pay for, and these are the most comfortable of the bunch, and they perfectly fit my more narrow foot.  Sometimes flat boots can make me feel a bit clunky without the grace of a raised heel, but these are sleek and feminine…and STILL COMFORTABLE.  Holler.  πŸ™ŒπŸ»  They fit true to size, and I am in love with them!

Hopefully this little ankle bootie round-up will be helpful if you find yourself shopping for some comfy shoes for fall!  Now…if only the weather would stop teasing us already and just chill out…literally!  πŸ˜‰  Very ready for sweater (and bootie!) season, can you tell?

This was so helpful! I usually get so overwhelmed with the huge selection of just about anything (shoes, jeans, make-up, etc) that I leave empty handed.

I keep seeing cute cut out booties and Im not understand how to wear socks with them? That may be a dumb question but don’t other women’s feet sweat or is it just me?

    • Erin | Cotton Stem says:

I don’t wear socks with the cut out booties, but I do with any of them that totally enclose my foot, for sure. I like those little ballet flat socks that for sure don’t show!

SO glad I found this post, it’s exactly what I’m looking for! Flat heal booties that are cute and comfortable! I’ve had my eye on those Vince booties but are they comfy?! The toes look kinda pointed! I love the side slit detail 😍

I bought #5 “laser cut out boogie” from Target! I’m soooo happy you posted this here Erin. I honestly never would have gone into the target shoe section due to my feet being wide and having bunions (😝), I generally have a hard time finding comfy shoes! These shoes are SO comfortable and they were only $34 !!

  9. Tanya says:

What color are your Dolce Vita Tay booties? Do you think they would fit a medium to wide foot??
Love this post, by the way. 😘

  11. Clare says:

I know they’re from American Eagle, but do you have the exact name of the booties in #1? i NEED them!!

  12. Johanna M. Seaman says:

I am looking for flat booties, but all the ones you are showing have heels. Do you have any with a one inch heel or lower? I am looking for a black leather look with a zipper to wear with slacks. I am having trouble walking with a heel. I would appreciate any help. I do not want anything that looks like the UGG (sp) boot.
