What up, buddies?!
I’d love to show you around the kitchen and breakfast nook area of our home while it’s all decked out in happy spring pretties, so come along! I’ll also link sources below for ya. ππ» Y’all know I can’t sit still for long when it comes to decor (those creative juices GOTSTA get out or it feels like I’ll bust!!), so let’s have a look before it all gets switched up again…
How do you guys feel about decorating in the kitchen? Half of the time, I want to fill it with fun farmhouse-y decor, and the other half of the time, I like that it’s pretty simple. Sometimes I think that huge space above the cabinets looks empty and sad, but then I can’t ever seem to find something I love enough to put up there. The struggle is real. π I tend to lean towards keeping it simple when designing kitchens, so I’ll do the same in my own, I guess. For now, a bit of fresh spring green, my vintage wooden spoon collection (thanks Where Sisters Gather !), this cutie wood sign from Three Mango Seeds, and a few Rae Dunn Clay funnies will do. π
What is it about flowers in a sink? I can’t help but stop mid-scroll when I see a farmhouse sink draped with beautiful blooms, and these blue beauties from the grocery store just had to come home with me! Our farmhouse sink [HERE] is an inexpensive alternative to the real deal, the DIY chalk painted cabinets were a much needed and cheap refresh to the space, and these DIY concrete counters were another low-budget way to update our kitchen. (Did I ever tell y’all that we completely redid our kitchen last summer for under $1,000? Someday I need to do a round up of the DIY’s and supplies for this space…on the list, guys. ππ» Until then, we used the Young House Love DIY concrete counters post–check it out if you’re looking to concrete it up!)
Ah the breakfast nook. Or, more aptly named….the Everything Happens Here nook. π I love that we have a big ol’ farmhouse table in the dining room where could comfortable seat our large family, but instead we cram around this smaller table every single meal…that we don’t eat on the couch (us) and the floor on a picnic blanket (kids). Anyone feel me?
This pedestal table is one of my very favorite pieces in our home, and it has served us well over the past couple of years. We can seat five chairs plus a highchair around it, and it’s just fine. Top things off with a yummy chippy wood fixture, some cheapo deapo drop cloth curtains and a stain-disguising rug…boom. Done and done!
For this year’s spring look, my girls wanted PINK! Pink pink pink. Is there another option in a house of four daughters?! ππ Thus, in keeping with their choice of theme color, we did a little pink lemonade sitch for a “fancy” tea party on picture day at the house. They love these faux tulips, and it’s lucky for me that tulips are SUPPOSED to look awkwardly angled and move with the sun…because they certainly move with the little fingers constantly playing with them.
Love these budget-friendly white cross-back chairs with just a hint of distressing paired with the rich wood tones of the wood tile floor and that chubby table. Y’all know I love me some whites and woods together, and topping it all off with happy springtime colors makes our home feel, well…happy!!
What do you think, buddies? Are you a kitchen decor fan, or do you keep it simple in there? Would you ever consider DIY countertops or chalk paint on cabinets…? π Would love to hear from you below, and come say howdy on Instagram [HERE] and Pinterest, [HERE] too!
Your home is so relaxing and peaceful. Every time I see pictures of your beautiful decorating I feel so calm and at ease! Keep it up, Erin. You’re beautiful inside and out!
Aw that is so so kind–and thank you for stopping by to say hello! Love chatting with y’all over here!
Erin,
Your home π‘ is Beautiful and so are you ! I love the way you decorate your home with love . You have so much class . You really have a eye for everything you do !
Hey Michele! That is so encouraging and kind–thank you for taking a sec to leave a sweet word!!
π love it! Question, where do you hide your microwave?
Cabinet to the right of the oven! All that countertop space finally….and I can’t hardly stand having anything resting on them. π Who even am I? π
I’m the same way π
Erin, your talent to create an effortlessly beautiful but able to be lived in home is incredible!! I love every design you create!!! And those tulips…I literally thought they were real, and was like, wait why didn’t she give them water? ππ
Bahahaha, maybe I should have put some in there to further trick the eye!! That’s too funny. Thanks for always being so uplifting, Kaitlyn! π
Absolutely stunning !!!!!!
Thank you so so much!
Do you have before pics of your kitchen cabinets? I desperately need to paint our kitchen cabinets but I am scared! Not about the finished product but the painting process itself! How long did it take you start to finish? Your house is beautiful!!
Hey Cari! I do have befores, but they were white to begin with, so no amazing transformation. The previous owners chose a very creamy, almost yellow-y white, and the cabinets just need a fresh coat. We spent a day on it!
I love the little nook above your cabinets– sooo cute!! The decor in the kitchen is new for me. I have a few new things on my counters and between them and the catch all that my counter tops can become sometimes it is more clutter than I can handle. I think I go back and forth daily!! I agree the struggle is really.
Right?? I guess keeping it simple is probably best, but then I get bored sometimes. π Glad you feel me, Miriah!
So very pretty!! I’m with you on kitchen decor. Most of the time I want bare counters but then get bored and add stuff!
Right?! I can’t sit still with decor, either. π
Love, love, love! You always have such beautiful ideas. I am kinda light with my kitchen decor too. I have a few things to make it pretty, but when I have too many they get in the way. Plus I live with men, well a grown man and a teenager, so they are like bulls in a china shop. π€£
Ha ha, I totally get that! My little bulls-in-a-china-shop girls like to mess with my stuff, too. π
Hi Erin, love your house and your decorating style. You’re so talented! Thanks for sharing the info on all your beautiful finds. π
Hey Claudia, thank YOU for taking a sec to stop by and say hi!
You have quickly become my favorite Instagram page to creep! Ha your kitchen and nook are beautiful! Do you by chance have a tutorial for ou drop cloth curtains? They are exactly what I’ve been looking for!
Hey Mallory, thank you for that kindness! Honestly, the curtains are straight out of the package, washed and dried, ironed and then clipped with curtain clips! Easy peasy!
I would just love to sit and chat at that table with you and eat one of those muffins for breakfast. Oh wait, I’m not a morning person so how about brunch…?! ππ
Ha ha, I’m more of a brunch person, too! π Takes me a bit to wake up…ha! Thanks, Sophie!
It’s beautiful!
Hey Tracy, thank you!
Love love love!!!

I’m with ya. So far, mine have stayed blank. π
Please do a kitchen DIY post!!!! Just bought a new house that needs a lot work and would love to see how you did your kitchen!!
I know, I wish I had known I was going to blog when we redid our kitchen–so many missed photo ops for a DIY post!!!
Thanks for the tour!! Your home is beautiful!! What lens do you use when taking this photos? They’re so beautiful!
It depends. Sometimes I use my Canon DSLR kit lens, and then sometimes just my iPhone 7! Thanks, Claire!
How many tulips do you happen to buy to have that look on the table? Tulips are my absolute favorite
They were like $5 for 10 or something I think, and I bought 10 bundles for in my nook and on my dining room table!
Loved the tour!! Would definitely love your DIY on the cement countertops. We are going to be redoing our kitchen hopefully this summer and love the inspiration!
I wish I had taken photos when we did it!!! GAH!
Thank you for sharing your home…..love itπ Will you tell me how you hung your coffee mugs underneath your cabinets? And thanks for the link for the chairs. Are your chairs the ones in the link? (Better Homes and Garden) in the link the white looks more tan’ish and yours look more whiteπ€π¬
thanks in advance for any infoππ½π€
Sure! They are hung using C hooks screwed up under the cabinet. And the chairs are the white distressed BHG ones!
Such a sweet place! I can just see 4 cute little girls around this table! I love the little mini cake stands and the rufflely white plates!!! Where did you get them!
Thank you! Those were from Target Dollar Spot!
Beautiful kitchen! I’d LOVE to know your sources for the kitchen table, dining chairs, and rug. They all work so wonderfully together!
Hi Erin!! I love your Instagram and am currently obsessing over your kitchen! It’s exactly what I’ve been trying to describe to my husband, but hadn’t 100% sold him on a kitchen renovation until I showed him your kitchen! He understands now why our 1990’s golden oak cabinets MUST go!! (Praise the Lord, hallelujah!!) I’ve searched on your blog for the paint color you used on the cabinets and haven’t found it. Would you happen to remember what color you used? Also, is your trim on windows and walls the same color as your cabinets?
Thanks for inspiring myself and others to be creative, while staying budget friendly!

Hi Erin! First off, your kitchen is gorgeous/ perfection!! π I think you mentioned using chalk paint on your cabinets. Was there any major prep work? Also, how has the chalk paint held up? Iβm wanting to use chalk paint on my cabinets but have read mixed reviews. Lastly, what brand of chalk paint did you use? Thank you so much for your time!
Where did you find your kitchen backsplash tiles? Love them!
