It seems keeping my four little girls in clothes that actually fit their constantly growing bodies is a part-time job. Just about the minute I get everyone settled with shoes for all occasions, jeans that still reach the ankle (and when they don’t anymore, can we call them capris for a bit…?), and all the other categories in between, I blink and nothing fits anymore. GAH! 😳 Luckily the girls are able to pass down a lot of items for reuse, but every once and awhile things get wonky and we all need new things. Or sometimes its a special occasion, and I want them to feel special!

Back to school season is upon us (only two more weeks for us😩), and while my girls wear uniforms the two days a week they attend school, they’re all due for a little wardrobe refresh on the days we are doing school at home. I put together a budget-friendly capsule wardrobe of sorts for young girls, and I love the concept of mixing, matching and creating many outfits out of just a few pieces. That’s how I structure my own closet! While kiddo capsules don’t always work quite as seamlessly due to randomly changing shapes and sizes (ha!), the idea is still a good one. Here are a few faves from my partner this back to school season, Walmart, for a stylin’ girls’ capsule on a serious budget!

DRESSES/ROMPERS: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5

SCHOOL SUPPLIES: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4

TOPS: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5

BOTTOMS: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5

SHOES: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5

Such cute pieces and with so many under $15, it doesn’t feel like breaking the bank to keep the kids in clothes that fit, ha! We have several of the pieces above and ordered a few more to round out the closets of a couple of my daughters for the upcoming season (personal fave are those colorful sneakers that they can wear to school w their uniforms!), and even though my mommy heart is sad to see summer coming to an end, getting this part of the “back to school” checklist taken care of on a budget feels pretty good! Hope this is helpful for any of y’all that have young daughters like I do!

Love how you put all this together, Erin! All these pieces can interchange so well, too. My sweet little nieces thank you! 🦄😉

I love this Erin! I have four girls too and I’m so glad Walmart has stepped up their clothing in the last few years. The capsules you create are so fun to see!

I got the blue striped romper for one of my girls, too! (I also have 4 girls, but 1 boy as well)
In small town Arkansas where I live, Walmart is definitely the first choice for all my back to school items! Love the post.

I love this idea! However, when I was young I guess we had a clothing capsule and didn’t know it. I watched your last old navy capsule and it brought back sweet memories of my Mom taking me school shopping. We would always get 2 jeans and one more pair of pants , then maybe 3 plain tops and 2 with a pattern. Then throw in a new cardigan and we were ready! There was 5 kids in school so we did t get too much!!
