How to Decorate from Summer Into Fall!

Hey friends!
Partnered up with Urban Outfitters to show y’all a simple way to move decor from season to season, only switching out a few items to bring a fresh vibe to any space!  In my opinion, it all starts with the color palette.  If you thoughtfully stick with neutrals as a base and then choose colors that are complimentary no matter the season, you can rework your spaces throughout the year giving them fresh updates on a budget!  Here’s an example in our master bedroom using the colors peach, mint, mustard yellow and plum and moving from summer into fall and using the same bedspread for both looks…

Look 1 – Summer Brights

I chose this gorgeous embroidered-feel bedspread [HERE] as the base of our room refresh, but you could start with a blanket or quilt you already have, too.  The color isn’t your typical “neutral” like a white or cream, but I was craving COLOR in here as we move from summer to fall, so I chose a base color that can work for both seasons!  For summer, I kept it light and bright by pairing the peach-y pink base and pulling in the mint from our rug and fan with mint pillows.  Kept that happy and bright vibe going with layers of pale pink and white using a quilt and pillows I already had, plus a few from Urban Outfitters for a fresh vibe. And now, let’s peek at how to take this look into fall…!

Look 2 – Fall Cozy

(I swear, my cats live to be photographed.  Not even kidding, they are perfectly fine minding their own business until they can SENSE I’m snapping pics!  Total diva kitties. 😹)

And now, how to move this vibe into the warmer, richer tones of fall?  To change things up without changing up ALL the things, I swapped out the pale pinks for richer jewel tones like plum and mustard yellow and added in luxurious textures like soft velvet, chunky wool knits and plushy embroidered detail.  The room didn’t need to undergo a complete change from the first summer look into the second one for fall – all it needed was a few swaps!  I think this design concept works, because the base color (peachy-pink bedspread) and neutral walls/furniture are easy to work with and can be paired with many different seasonal colors and vibes.

I hope this was helpful to you buddies o’ mine as you start thinking about fall decor!  I know home bloggers/Instagrammers like myself change up our decor way more than the average person because it’s part of our job and passion, but I really do believe in the idea of sticking with colors and pairings that can carry you from season to season with just a few refreshes here and there!  Shouldn’t have to break the bank to build a beautiful home, especially for y’all who love to fluff (and re-fluff…) your nest often…like me.  😉  Happy pre-fall fluffing, friends!
