Howdy, buddies!
Okay okay, I know what you’re thinking. “Didn’t she JUST redo this playroom a few months ago…?!”
And the answer is YES.
I tried to love all black and white.
And…for my home, I didn’t love it.
And…the rug got stained beyond repair.
So I moved this carpet tile rug in here.
And then nothing worked anymore.
And so…I busted out my chalk paint!!
(Metal wall baskets from Hobby Lobby | Wooden crates from TJ Maxx | Curtains are medium weight drop cloths from Home Depot | Chalk board is vintage)
For this project, I used the chalk paint sprayer from Amy Howard [HERE] to update the kids’ metal daybed, the wooden letters up top, and a couple of other items in the space. I used the color Credenza from Amy Howard [HERE] which is a creamy, pale mix between robin’s egg blue and green/grey. SUCH a pretty color!
(I also used the color on this vintage dresser project!)
I was interested in trying out this chalk paint sprayer, because other sprayers I’ve used with regular paint are SO heavy. This one is actually pretty lightweight comparatively, and it did a nice job creating an even spray on all of the items. The only issue I had was a bit of bubbling when I held the sprayer in one spot for too long. The bubbles went away pretty quickly before they could dry, but I should have kept things going in a continuous motion…instead of getting distracted by a wayward squirrel chirping at me for being too close to the fallen pecans. π³ π The only other thing I’d mention is that the sprayer says it’s made specifically for Amy Howard chalk paint, so not sure if other brands can/should be used with it? Couldn’t hurt to try as most chalk paint seems to be of similar consistency, but just FYI.
Overall, I was pretty darn happy with the results! The soft, creamy, pale blue/grey/green of Amy Howard’s Credenza color speak to my soul, and I’m glad I kept a few black metal touches in here, too. A little bit modern farmhouse, a little bit cozy cottage, and a whole lotta playing!
Raise your hand if you think this area stayed styled like this after the pics for more than three minutes…?
Yeah.
My hand isn’t up either.

Looks great, Schmoo!
Thanks, Bags!
I love it!! I can’t wait until we move into a house that we can have a playroom. Right now our toddler’s toys are all in the living room, so we try to keep it as organized as possible, but I would love a place devoted just to play!
Yours came out beautiful! π
We sacrificed the home office for a playroom…and then realized DUH. She shed out back. Win win for all. π
What a perfect space for your four little beauties : )
Thank you so much!!
That’s a fabulous playroom! And so organized. Your kiddies are lucky to have such a cool mama!! Love it all.
