Oh man, I’m on a roll over here organizing ALL THE THINGS.  I don’t know if it’s the start of a new year or what, but I can’t get enough of tidying things up, cleaning out junky zones and putting everything in its place.  Phew, feels good!!  The next target for my organizational energies was the girls’ playroom.  The original design and layout was geared more towards very little kids and babies, but, now that they are all a bit older and have different types of toys and interests, it was time to rethink the layout of their favorite space in the house.

This wall previously held four large, open bins that were basically just dump zones for all the toys with zero organization.  Back when my babies were actual babies still 😉, I was happy to just get them to pick something (ANYTHING!!) up and put it not on my floor.  I made it way easy for them with the big bins!  However, they’ve now reached an age where they can be a bit more responsible for tidying up and organizing their art supplies, legos, stuffed toys and books.  I thought the individual bins would help separate like items and (hopefully 🤞🏼) assist in maintaining organization beyond the seconds after these photos were taken, ha!  We shall see…but I have high hopes!

While planning for this space, I knew I wanted some functional AND affordable pieces to get the gals organized, and I found these sturdy and stylish farmhouse shelves at Walmart [HERE]!  I also added the metal bins with handles and woven baskets to my cart online, and the whole project was on it’s way to our house in a snap.  🙌🏼  Walmart’s selection of affordable (and cute!) home decor was perfect, especially for a project where you don’t want to skimp on style while also not breaking the bank.  😉

Isn’t it funny how our spaces change as our families change?  Keeping these areas functional for my kiddos actually has dictated a lot of design choices, and it’s neat to go back and look at photos of what they needed when they needed it as we’ve grown as a family.  Here’s hoping a small refresh in their favorite room of the house will promote lots of play…and lots of putting away, too. 😉
