Kid-Friendly Guest Bathroom Inspiration!

, , , , , ,

Okay, so we are starting to do some updates to our guest bath (which is overrun by four tiny little girls most of the time…. 😳), and I am in serious need of some inspiration!  We have two bathrooms in our home; the master and this guest bath, so I’d like it to be both functional and lovely for our guests…smears of toothpaste and four bajillion hair ties scattered on the floor notwithstanding.  Nothing really “wrong” with this space other than if you squint, you’ll see some pretty builder-basic elements that are starting to show their age in person and could use a refresh…budget-friendly, of course.

Because we aren’t staying in this house for all that much longer, I don’t want to go crazy on major updates, but I do want to give this 13 year old room some fresh touches that will help with resell later down the road.  It isn’t bad as it is, but it could use a little love…because, other than a coat of paint, it’s pretty much remained untouched since we moved in.  To help get my rear in gear, I rounded up some of the prettiest guest bathrooms that are kid-friendly in design and decor from Instagram, so maybe you can get inspired for your project, too!

I’m really REALLY digging this pale pink vanity base paired wit the classic subway tile and darker grout.  Classy with a touch of pink for my four girlies! The sink is the cutest thing ever, too.

I cannot EVEN with that cutie custom message worked into the tile!!  How fun is this?!  We probably can’t do something as involved as changing the flooring, but man is this ever adorable.  I love the big sink, subway tile again, and those three mirrors are adorable in here, too!

Hmmmmm, I think I’m feelin’ some pink, you guys!  My four little girls would just FLIP, and maybe I could keep it muted since we aren’t staying here forever?  Pale, dusty, blush pink with crisp white and wood tones?  This bath right here is what dreams are made of…..💞

How fun is this small space filled with whimsy?!  Lots of Instagram buddies suggested a touch of wallpaper for a quick update [HERE], and that might be one of the easier options with lots of impact.  Might just stick to one accent wall, but man is this ever eye-catching!!

Farmhouse feels going straight to my heart on this guest bath project here….LOVE the round mirror on the subway tiles, and those little pulls are speaking to me.  Warm woods mixed with classic modern farmhouse touches – always a good combo, I say!

There’s that pop of pink again, y’all….. 😉  How fun and funky is this design?!  Might not totally flow with the rest of the house, but it sure makes me itch to switch and try new things.  And what I wouldn’t give for a window smack dab in the middle of our guest/girls’ bath!

And finally, I loved this clean, crisp and classic bathroom with the double mirrors, soft texture on the walls and the combo of dark grey and white with a touch of green.  Such a fresh and bright feel in this beautiful room!!

Okay people, now it’s project time. 💪🏼  The creative juices are flowing (grossest analogy ever when you think about it…), I’ve been fully inspired by these talented Instagram peeps, and now onto the bathroom redo project!  Which bathroom style shown above is your jam?  Think I can get away with a soft pink in there even if we’re going to be selling in the not so distant future…?  Cause I’m kinda feelin’ it…. 💞

Who’s over here trying to double-tap blog photos? #ThisGirl
Great inspo, loving the pink vanity up top! And those big, round mirrors, too.

  2. Amber says:

Yes for sure do the pink!!! It’s so cute and you have 4 girls, so how cute would that be and fun for them!!

  3. Rosanna says:

Absolutely love the last one with the round mirrors and backsplash. No don’t do pink!!!!! I love pink it is my favorite color but it is horrible for resell value, unless in a girls room or nursery. Pink is not for everyone! Think of the future homeowners, this will be the bathroom that everyone uses including guest. I would say do pops of pink; like accents, pictures and a cute pink shower curtain.

  4. Emily O. says:

This is so fun! Pink walls would be the safest for resale, but a pink vanity would be the most fun. I say go for it! Whoever buys your house will most likely be a big Cotton Stem fan, so as long as “you do you” they will love it. Plus, a pink vanity can be changed in a day with some milk/chalk paint if you find it is keeping your house from selling. Can’t wait to see what you decide. I’m painting my bathroom vanity green this week 😳😬😍 💚💚💚.

  5. Kris Carrig says:

Yes Erin!! Do it…pink!! 💖 and LOVE the subway tile around the sink. I’m feelin’ the inspiration too!! 🙌🏻💖

  6. Elizabeth says:

I love the pink!! BUT….😬🙈🙊I’ll be the bad guy to say it….if you’re thinking of selling relatively soon I wouldn’t do it. In a (current) household of boys it would make me groan at the thought of having to re-do something like that in a house I’m considering buying/just bought. I also would hate for it to be a turn off to a potential buyer for you in the future. Maybe there are other fun ways to add some pink whimsy for the girls that will translate more easily to a new owner? But if you knew you were going to stay there for a long time I would say DO IT! Can’t wait to see what you come up with! I know it will be beautiful! 💕💕

  7. Tamie says:

Yes!!!! It will be suttle,, but give it warmth 😍

  8. Pam says:

Definitely gray cabinets with pops of pink in shower curtain, towels, rug etc. Love the tile wall behind mirrors. (my hubby is a tile guy 🙂 although a wallpaper accent wall would be less $$ it wouldn’t be as buyer friendly or hold up as well in steam showers, hairspray, etc.

  9. Lu says:

Yes pink! Or whatever else that would bring you joy. Design/decorate for your family now and not for the future homeowners. Most likely when you do sell, new owners will make changes anyway. So enjoy now! .No matter what you choose, I can’t wait to see it! You are amazing.

  10. Brandi Hughes says:

    Yasss!!!! Pink!!! 💕

  11. Debbi says:

I love the idea of doing pink but I would just do maybe one accent wall and then some accent decor. I’d chalk paint the vanity a light grey and then sand to look old. I’d like to see two really pretty girlie mirrors and chandelier sconces for lighting!

  12. Martha says:

I am so so honored and down right tickled pink that you are inspired by my little bathroom refresh 💗 hugs hugs hugs! Soo much good inspo! Can’t wait to see what ideas you pool together!

  13. Rhonda says:

You’ve found some great inspiration!! Before I saw these, I thought you should paint your cabinets a soft grey. Now with inspo pics, pink would look adorable with grey. Maybe use the new removeable wallpaper available….voila! No stressing about resale😉

  14. Linda says:

Omg love the post! Definitely can do the last photo with what’s already in your bathroom. Painting the vanity, new drawer pulls, light fixtures, faucets and mirrors. You don’t necessarily have to do the subway tile wall (though I love it) but if you wanted to keep your coat down you don’t have to. I cannot wait to see what you end up doing! You are giving me a lot to think about with our soon to be renovation of our half bath on a budget! Thanks 😀

  15. Christine says:

Omg the first one is to die for!!! Yes to the soft blush!!!

  16. Sherry says:

The link for the wallpaper does not come up. Could u please list?
    Thank u.

  17. Crystal says:

Do you! Do what you love! Your girls would love it. Unless you’re moving this year I’d say go for it!

  18. Denise says:

    Hi Erin,

I feel like the farmhouse one is your style!!
    Definitely better for resale value.

But the pink walls would work
    For your girls !

You could always pink up the room with towels and accessories !

  19. Ramona Myers says:

It’s your house but……having moved 17 times and sold 6 different houses I would go with pink accents. I like pink don’t get me wrong but it isn’t great for re-sale. Trust me, having edited and staged and re-staged folks like move in ready. Not everyone is up to doing the least bit of DIY. I love your style and whatever you do will look great. Just trying to share from the voice of experience. Have fun!

  20. Gina says:

Love the round mirrors! For the pink though, just like you can add pops of colour with toss cushions in a room, I would add pink only in the shower curtain and art work for the bathroom. I think soft pink is beautiful but it’s not everybody’s tastes so for resale reasons I’d keep it neutral and clean. How about a removable wallpaper for some whimsy that you can remove before selling if needed?

  21. Sarah says:

Do a pink shower curtain….. if your selling soon I’d skip pink any where that’s left behind, do it in the next house because it’s perfect!!

  22. Shawn says:

Four round mirrors for your 4 girlies over warm wood vanity! How about some wainscoting on walls – 3/4 of the way up from floor? Farmhouse feel. New faucets, hardware, and artwork – something large and whimsical. Might introduce your pink in art (and towels), and take it with you when you sell

  23. Amanda says:

My shower tile is the longer subway tile with the dark gray grout. I love it. The pink vanity is adorable. I can’t wait to see what you do.

  24. Kylie says:

I love the pink, as well….but for resale, I think you’d have to do a neutral pink. Is there such a thing? 🤣 I’m sure It’s going to be amazing!

  25. Lyene says:

For sure the last one! By the way I am new to your blog! I found you on insta and fell in love! I am probably not your typical blog type, but I’ve grown to really love this and your writing! You are a fantastic writer and I love your style!!! (Also I like the last pic)
