Let’s Help People – community giving project

**NOTE: if there are only a few or zero items on the wish list, that is GOOD NEWS! That means the wish list has almost been fulfilled or maybe it has been totally completed! I’m updated the post throughout the day as I can!

A few weeks ago, sweet people from my Instagram community submitted nominations for someone they know and love to receive a bit of help this holiday season. After reviewing the nominations and contacting those who were nominated, here is a list of of families who could use a bit of love and an extra bit of Christmas spirit sent their way. (All nominations included a photo, names, contact info and background story, however some photos/information/names have been changed here to protect privacy at the request of the nominee).

Please see the wish list link below their story, and if you feel moved to send a gift their way, you have my sincerest gratitude. Thank you to all who want to help when they are in a position to do so — we’ve all been in need of help at one time or another, and we never know when we’ll be in that spot again. It’s nice to know there are so many kind people in this world, especially after how crazy 2020 has become. Thank you to you all!

From the nominator: “My best friend, Nicole, passed away suddenly two months ago in a horrific drunk driving incident (she was hit by a drunk driver) leaving behind her husband, Chris, and their 7.5 month old son, Easton. On top of the horrific grief they are experiencing he lost his job due to needing too much time off to get his and his son’s life back in order. In turn- they are now facing eviction, behind on bills, and still trying to pay off medical and burial costs. They could use a Christmas miracle more than anyone. I have seen the wonderful things the community has done for some other families and I am praying they can work some miracles for Chris and Easton. Thank you for considering them.

FOLAND FAMILY WISH LIST:

WISH LIST COMPLETE!!!

From her nominator: “About Hannah: I believe if you asked anyone to describe Hannah in one world many people would say selfless. That is because Hannah is the most selfless person I know, and it is shown in many things from her friendships to her career. Hannah worked as a victim advocate for many years and is currently working as a crisis coordinator for HER shelter. She cares about people and what they are going through and wants to help in any way that she can. Her kind heart is contagious, and her adventurous spirit is truly one of a kind.

While this year has had many blessings such as her becoming pregnant it has also been very challenging in many ways. She will welcome her daughter in January as a single mother. Because of her marriage coming to an end she also had to give up her home and then not being able to work because of hyperemesis gravidarum it has been a very difficult few months. Last week Hannah was in a car accident and her car flipped. We are so grateful that she is okay that her sweet baby girl is okay still safe in her belly. But unfortunately her car is totaled which added on more stress onto an already stressful year. I want to bless her and her first child because she is the most amazing person I have ever met. I think that if we can help her buy the stuff she needs for her little girl and postpartum needs it will help her and bless her in ways I cannot imagine.”

HALL FAMILY WISH LIST:

WISH LIST COMPLETE!!!

From her nominator: “I would like to nominate my sister, K.D., and my two nephews, B and H.My sister went through a pretty rough divorce a few years ago and has really struggled financially ever since. She works full time and even does random jobs like Uber and Door Dash when she doesn’t have the boys. She is an amazing mom and works hard for her boys to have the things that they need.

Being a single mom is tough on her and I know that she gets discouraged when she comes up short on money at the end of the month. Not only does she care for her boys, she also takes shifts every weekend to take care of my 96 year old grandmother who still lives at home.  I would love to surprise them with a little pick me up. They have had an especially hard time in the last 6 weeks and could use some something to make them smile.”

K.D. FAMILY WISH LIST:

WISH LIST COMPLETE!!!

“My sister’s Name is April Ebert, she has 6 kids and her sweet husband’s name is Josh.

Back before COVID hit America Josh lost his job as a mechanic and hasn’t been able to find steady work ever since. April works for their local VA hospital in Marion Indiana. She has been picking up extra work to provide for her family and Josh has been staying home with the kids and doing online learning. They have had a really hard time. April is one of the most selfless people I know and has gone hungry on multiple occasions or has decided to do without something she needed so that her kids could eat. Right now their stove/oven is broken and she has to get creative on how she cooks dinner.

Whenever she is in a position to give she doesn’t hold back. I know that this Christmas will be hard but she would be so grateful for the items on this wish list.”

EBERT FAMILY WISH LIST:

WISH LIST COMPLETE!!!

After battling through infertility, Beth Ann, a nurse in the ICU, was able to help her husband and two very young children (2 and 11 months)  through a rough time of financial uncertainty.  During that time, Just as Beth Ann finished walking along side and caring for her mother through a difficult battle with breast cancer (she is in remission), Beth Ann’s husband was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia.  He has been in the hospital for many, many weeks, only able to see his children a couple of times, and, after going home around Thanksgiving, he is headed back into the hospital for more chemo.  Beth Ann could use our support this Christmas as she is carrying much on her shoulders, as well as her husband Dan who will spend most of this holiday season in the hospital.

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO DONATED!!!

After learning of her nomination, Sara said, “First of all, I am so honored and extremely blessed to be nominated! This is an answer to prayer! My name is Sara, my husband’s name is Josh and we have been together for six years, married for four. Our little miracle baby is Arthur, we like to call him Artie.

Earlier this year, I was very pregnant, working in a local hospital during the height of the pandemic. I ended up having to go on maternity leave early to keep myself and my son safe and ultimately, my employment ended because I did not feel safe working in a hospital with so many Covid cases.

Fast forward two months, my husband lost his job and we had to pack our things and move in with my sister and her family of six. Josh and I are forever grateful for my sister and her husband’s generous hearts, we really don’t know where we’d be without them! Things look very different than they did a year ago, but we are holding on to hope, and counting our many, many blessings.”

HUMPHRIES FAMILY WISH LIST:

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO DONATED!!!

B.H. FAMILY WISH LIST:

WISH LIST COMPLETE!!

From her nominator: “Phoenix has had the most horrific year and is still in a place of struggle at this very moment.  This single Mama has two beautiful children, a 6 year old daughter and a 3 year old son w autism.  I was their preschool teacher for 3 years.  Phoenix was the librarian at our small town library and she was laid off in April due to COVID.  Then in September she lost her little home and all of her belongings in the Creek Fire.  She did not have insurance on her place as it was a guest house on her parents property.  Her parents also lost everything but they did have very limited insurance.

I found her shortly after the fire had destroyed her home living out of her car with her 2 kids, her dog and what little possessions they had managed to pack up.  She’s now living in a tiny borrowed RV on our property.  This Mama has been dealt a really unfair amount of difficulties and she deserves to feel love and support.  Every time we talk she’s always so positive in spite of all of the challenges.  I really hope that you choose her because I would love for her to see that she’s got a community of Mama’s standing beside her holding her hand.  She needs that….I’m crying as I type this.  I just can’t imagine what I would be feeling if I was in her shoes…no job, no home I don’t know how she remains so positive but I’m sure she does it for her kids.”

BAUER FAMILY WISH LIST:

WISH LIST COMPLETE!!!

From her nominator: “At a young age, M was always the one to help out all of those around her in need, even if that meant she had to wait a little longer for one of her own desires. I would know, because she is my little sister! In May of 2018, she became a mama to the most precious little one ever! A few short months later, she found herself a single mom and free of a mentally abusive relationship. After searching for a long while, she found the perfect rental for her and her son. She always made just enough to provide the basics for her son, food and cover her bills.

Like many others, in April of 2020,  her job was forced to closed down and she was laid off for a long while. Currently she is making barely enough to pay the bills and put food on the table. I asked her to make me an amazon list of things she needs wants for her home. Because she always puts others before her, it originally had only contained a few items, all for her son. It took some convincing to have her add a few things she needs/wants for their rental house.

I know her holiday is nothing what she envisioned, but she genuinely deserves to be showered with love. She provides 100% of everything she needs for my nephew. She rarely asks for help, and never asks for anything for herself. This small gesture will help relieve some of her anxiety, and bring joy to her and her son! Thank you for the consideration!”

M.G. FAMILY WISH LIST:

WISH LIST COMPLETE!!!

Sara is a single mom of three children 14, 10 and 5.  She is working hard to provide for her family during this tough year, and her oldest daughter is helping to raise and look after the younger kiddos so that Sara can work.  Her 10 year old son even raised money to buy equipment to start a small lawn service business in order to help his family.  They would all be blessed by your generosity this Christmas.

GALE FAMILY WISH LIST:

THANK YOU TO ALL WHO DONATED!!!

From her nominator: “I would like to nominate my daughter Brittany Owens for your “Holiday Giving Project” campaign.  She is a hard working single mother of a wonderful 7 year old little boy who is struggling with a severe ADHD diagnosis in the midst of this pandemic. She had an amazing career in the hospitality industry.  However, she was laid off in March from the COVID pandemic due to travel restrictions etc. She has been desperately looking for jobs, schooling her son and now in the process of moving her dogs and son into a 1 bedroom apartment because she can no longer afford the mortgage on her townhouse due to the loss of income from the pandemic.  She is stressed out and fearful that she isn’t going to be able to do “good enough” for her son this year for Christmas.

I had a brain aneurysm in 2016 and had to have emergency brain surgery. Since then I have been put on disability due to my inability to work, so I am going to do my best to help her through this difficult time, but there is only so much I will be able to do. I think this is so incredibly important for her to be able to get her confidence back and to realize that she is still an incredible mother even when going through what seems like the most difficult times. She is so desperately in need of a little spark of joy and some weight lifted off her shoulders.”
