Quick + Easy Room Refresh on a Budget!

, , , ,

Anyone else get stuck in a rut with decor but lack budget for a whole revamp?  I’ve been wanting a quick and easy change in our farmhouse style dining room, but I don’t have room this month in the budget for much.  So I decided to change things up using two budget-friendly methods of approaching home decor: Musical Rugs + Decor Capsules!

BEFORE:

This was our dining room once the aftermath of Christmas decor extravaganza made its way up to the attic.  I was struggling to find direction in here that was both functional (I love a set table full o’ pretties, but we use this table for laundry and school, too) and budget-friendly.  The first thing I wanted to try was simply swapping out rugs with a little game I like to call “Musical Rugs,” ha!  Instead of scratching that itch to switch up the look of a space by buying all new decor or investing in new paint or furniture, I like to first swap out rugs around the house.  Makes such a big impact with relatively little effort other than a few minutes of elbow grease.  😉

AFTER:

Another budget-friendly way to approach switching up the look of a space is mindfully collecting a home decor capsule!  (See one of my favorites HERE!)  Similar to the idea of curating a wardrobe capsule full of your most favorite items that make you feel beautiful daily, creating a decor capsule accomplishes the same thing: quick and easy redecorating with items you already know you love and that go well with your home’s style!

For the dining room, I spent zero money redecorating!  Instead, I went out in my garage and grabbed some of my vintage bottle collection, a few old books in blues and greens and used those to accent a beautiful painting that was a gift from my husband a few years ago!  These items aren’t new, but they definitely scratched the itch for a new, fresh look in the space on a budget.  Consider collecting a group of items for your home that could mix and match in different rooms, and then you’ll be able to pull those pieces to switch up a space quickly and easily…without needing to go shopping!  Read more about home decor capsules HERE!

The rug on the right that I used to refresh the space is from Well Woven Rugs, and it’s the Ciato Vintage Blue in 8×10!  Check out my whole Cotton Stem Collection with Well Woven HERE!  From now till Feb. 28, 2019, use CSTEM15 for 15% off your entire purchase!  Hope this is helpful if you have the itch to switch up your decor on a budget this season!

I love your blog and IG stories! I have admired your rugs from Well Woven so I recently ordered several rugs from them. I needed to return one of the rugs because it was thin and the color was not what I wanted! The cost of the return was close to $150.00. I then decided to keep a rug that I will never use. I would never order from them again, not a
    good policy!
