Simple Reading Nook for Kids

, ,

Since we are all staying home more and more these days, I’m trying to find creative ways to make our space interesting, fun and cozy for the kiddos. They currently share a bunk room, and I thought adding a simple reading nook for kids in one corner could be a sweet little spot for snuggles and books. And y’all know I’m all about the books! 😉 I grabbed a furry bean bag chair [similar HERE] that came filled with shredded memory foam (no messy “beans,” hooray!) and an adorable pom-lined linen-y fairy curtain from Amazon [HERE], and then a few book shelves from a small shop on Etsy [HERE].

Took about 30 minutes to put this together, and I hope it brings them hours of cozy reading time as we head into another season of staying home. We are a big family, and it has helped ease tensions and get us through the day if everyone sort of has a place to be, a thing to do and a buddy to do it with. By creating little intentional spaces like this, I hope the girls feel like there are lots of places to “go” within our home, even when we can’t really go out and about like before. This simple reading corner for kids was fun to put together for me, too!

How are you guys doing with keeping the kiddos home more than normal this summer and as we head into the school year? Some days, it seems like we can handle whatever is thrown at us, and other days…I wish I had my own book nook with a zip-up-able curtain so I could just hide away with a book. 😉 If you’re looking for a few more kid-friendly decor project ideas, check out the girls’ closet storage project [HERE] and their playroom shelving for toy storage [HERE]!

It is beautiful!! You did a great job. I recently did a reading corner in my daughters room very similar to what you did. I enjoy following you. You seem so down to Earth and relatable which can be hard to find on Instagram sometimes. You bring a smile to my face. Thank you for that!

  15. Amy says:

Love this! I am hoping to create a reading nook in my daughter’s room in the next month or two. Her chair is too small for the two of us to sit in together anymore, so we keep ending up on the floor. 😀 Thanks for the inspiration!

Such a cute idea, and it doesn’t really take up a lot of space. 💚
