Y’all…this is our happy place. We love coming to Big Cedar Lodge and have been since I was pregnant with our first kiddo! This time around, they asked us to come and show my Instagram buddies [HERE] what to do in the fall at Big Cedar Lodge, and we were more than happy to oblige! 😉 Big Cedar is located in the Ozark mountains of Missouri and has views of Table Rock Lake, so needless to say, it was a stunning fall foliage moment the entire trip! It ended up raining pretty heavily while we were there so some of our activities had to be cancelled, but I’ll tell you what…snuggling up by the fire in a cute cabin overlooking the lake and mountains while drinking coffee, playing games and watching movies is NOT a problem for me, ha!
Where to stay:
We stayed in the new Camp Long Creek area of Big Cedar, and it’s so freaking cute! Lots of small cabins, camp huts and even fancy “glamping” tents overlooking the lake is my kind of “camping,” and the accomdations were stunning per usual at Big Cedar. We stayed in the one bedroom camp cabin with a screened in porch, and it was just perfect!
What to do:
CAVE AND NATURE TRAIL
First up, we took a golf cart from the Top of the Rock for a 30-45 minute cave and nature trail tour, and man the fall foliage was stunning this time of year (late October)!! We drove through caves with waterfalls streaming down from the top, saw stunning views of the mountains and beautiful waterfalls around every turn. Bring your tripod and get some pics while you’re there! Wowzers!
THE SPA + COUPLES TREATMENTS
Next, we were treated to an afternoon at the fantastically gorg Big Cedar Lodge spa. It’s one of my favorite places to go, and every time I’m there, I get the best service and treatments! Be sure to bring your swimsuit, because there are multiple hot tubs, saunas and even a co-ed heated grotto pool with an ice room that you can enjoy after your service. It felt safe and people were taking careful precautions for this inside portion of the trip.
COZY CABIN MOMENTS
We had planned to do a bike tour through Dogwood Canyon (another AWESOME spot if you go!!), but the rain put an end to that and forced us snuggle up in the cabin with board games, a fire, coffee and movies. DARN. 😉 If you are a boat person, the Camp Long Creek area has a great marina to head out onto the lake, and there are multiple fire pits and gas grills for outdoor eats and smores! If you are outdoorsy but like it cute, this is your place!
Where to eat:
FANCY DINNER AT OSAGE
If you’re feeling a date night out, make reservations for a table overlooking the lake and golf course at Top of the Rock’s Osage restaurant. Live music, excellent food, gorgeous views and…gooey butter cake. GET THIS. Trust me. 😍
Per usual, we had such a lovely time at Big Cedar Lodge and are so grateful they asked us to come back in the fall this time! If you are thinking about visiting, I have guides for the summer [HERE] and during the Christmas season [HERE]. Can you tell it’s our favorite place?! So many family memories tied to BCL, and we can’t wait to come back again soon…maybe in the spring in one of those glamping tents!!
